How many hours your team gets back with AI
Turns the credit into an outcome: hours freed and what they are worth.

Work out in a minute the subsidised training credit your company is entitled to this year, from your headcount and what you contributed for Formación Profesional. With the official rates and the formula in plain sight.
The training credit is not a grant you apply for or a discount you negotiate with a supplier: it is part of what your company already contributed last year, set aside by law to train your people. If you don't use it within the year, it doesn't roll up and it isn't refunded. It simply disappears.
So the useful question is not what it costs to train your team in AI, but how much you lose by not doing it. Most companies discover their balance in December, when there is no room left to organise anything, file it in time and deliver it. This calculator exists so you see it months ahead.

Outcome
Training that is already paid for and that you are not using today.
Certainty
Bonification and co-funding rates as published by FUNDAE.
Time
Two figures: headcount and last year's Formación Profesional contribution.
Effort
The filing, the deadlines and the paperwork are ours.
Bracket: 50 to 249 employees · 60% bonification
credit = last year's FP contribution × bonification % for your headcount
The minimum private co-funding includes people's salary during training hours.
The Spanish subsidised training system runs on a simple logic that almost nobody explains end to end: you contribute, a credit is set aside for you, you train your people, and you deduct that spend from your social security payments. The net result is that the training is free or close to it. The complication is not the concept — it is the three factors that decide the figure.
The starting point is not your revenue or your current headcount, but what you paid in Formación Profesional contributions during the previous year. It is a line on your Social Security contribution statements, paid every month without anyone paying it much attention. That accumulated amount is the base everything else is calculated from.
If you don't have it to hand, the calculator lets you estimate it from the workforce's annual contribution base. That is a reasonable approximation for sizing the conversation, but the number that counts is the one on your statements.
A bonification percentage is applied to that contribution, and it falls as the company grows. That is deliberate: the system protects small companies, which have less capacity to organise training on their own.
The surprising part is the bottom bracket: a four-person company that has barely contributed anything still has €420 set aside to train its team. The brackets are in the table below.
From six employees up, the company has to put in part of the cost itself. It is not an invented surcharge: it is the share of total training spend that cannot come out of public credit.
The good news is that this contribution includes people's salary during training hours. In practice, if the training happens during working hours, that cost already covers the requirement without you paying out anything extra.
There is a further limit per participant and hour — the so-called módulos económicos — which varies by delivery format. For certificados de profesionalidad it is €8 per hour in person and €5 online. The general table for programmed training is not built in here, so what you see is the credit available, not the maximum billable spend. For most AI training programmes the difference is small, but it is worth knowing.
Bonification and co-funding by headcount bracket
420 €guaranteed minimum of 420 €
| Headcount | Bonification | Minimum co-funding |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 5 employees | 420 € | 0% |
| 6 to 9 employees | 100% | 5% |
| 10 to 49 employees | 75% | 10% |
| 50 to 249 employees | 60% | 20% |
| 250 employees or more | 50% | 40% |
Co-funding is not a surcharge: it is the share of total training spend that cannot come out of public credit, and it accepts people's salary during training hours.
Your credit is last year's Formación Profesional contribution multiplied by the percentage for your headcount bracket. With 120 employees, for example, that is 60%: if you contributed €9,800, your gross credit is €5,880.
With one to five employees no calculation is needed: you have a guaranteed minimum of €420.
The exact, official figure comes from FUNDAE's own simulator using your company's data. This calculator is for sizing the conversation before you get there.
The credit is allocated per year and expires with it. The training has to be delivered and claimed within the year the credit belongs to.
There is one important exception: companies with fewer than 50 employees can carry unused credit into the next two years, but only if they flag it explicitly in the system before 30 June. Miss that date and the carry-over is no longer available.
In practice this means October is late and December is impossible: organising the programme, filing it and delivering it takes more time than it looks.
It is lost. It is not refunded, it is not offset against next year and it does not turn into anything else. Apart from the carry-over for companies under 50 employees, credit left unused at year end disappears.
Put another way: your company pays that contribution twelve months a year regardless. The only decision in your hands is whether you use it or give it away.
The ultimate responsibility sits with the company, which is the one applying the deduction to its social security payments. But the operational side — filing the training on time, meeting the requirements for the training action and keeping the documentation — can be delegated to an entidad organizadora.
When you work with us, we take that on: you approve the programme and we carry the rest. What we never delegate is the responsibility for the training actually being delivered and documented, because that is what gets reviewed if there is an audit.
Training related to the company's activity and to the professional development of the people receiving it. The minimum length of a training action is two hours.
The usual formats — in person, online, virtual classroom and blended — all qualify, with different per-hour, per-participant financial limits depending on the format.
Yes. It is training directly tied to the company's activity and to professional performance, and it fits the programmed training system without difficulty.
There is also an argument that goes beyond the credit: since February 2025, Article 4 of the European AI Act requires a sufficient level of AI literacy among the people operating these systems.

Designing the programme is where it is actually decided whether the money is used well or burned on generic courses, and that comes out of a task-by-task diagnostic, not from picking off a catalogue.
Knowing the balance is half the work. The other half is deciding which AI training actually moves the needle in your company, and that comes out of a task-by-task diagnostic, not a course catalogue.

The bonification and co-funding percentages, the guaranteed minimum credit and the minimum length of a training action come from FUNDAE's official documentation. The real amount depends on your company's actual contributions, on credit already used during the year, and on the maximum módulos económicos per participant and hour, which are not built into this calculation.
